A Helping Hand

Back in December, when Tim Johnson fell ill, I delivered tens of thousands of get well soon cards from members of GiveEmHellHarry.com. It was one of my proudest moments since launching this community. Well I have some good news to report -- it looks like Tim Johnson will be back at work in the Senate soon.
Tim is up for reelection in 2008 and as he finishes his recovery, we need to make sure he will be able to hit the ground running. While he is incredibly popular at home, South Dakota is a red state and Tim will be a Republican target next year.
Next week is the FEC's second quarter fundraising deadline. Republicans and the media will use these numbers as the primary gage of a campaign's strength. Tim can't fundraise for himself right now, so we all need to chip in and help.
Make a contribution to Tim Johnson's campaign before next week's critical fundraising deadline.
In 2002, Tim Johnson won by just 524 votes. Ever since he was declared the winner, Republicans have been preparing for 2008. And now, with Democrats in the majority by only one vote, they will do whatever it takes to try and defeat him.
Well, we need to do whatever it takes to help him fight back. If you want to see Democrats keep and expand our majority in 2008, the most important thing you can do is support Tim Johnson.
Next week is the FEC's end of quarter fundraising deadline. If you have ever considered making a contribution, now is the moment.
Tim is a fighter. The entire time I've known him, he has consistently stood up for what he believes in, no matter what. And when he became sick in December I knew he would fight to come back to the Senate. The fact that Tim is recovering so quickly is a testament to his incredible strength and will power.

I doubt anyone on the other side can win however...
Thanks for supporting Tim Johnson on your blog!
The ONLY remedy at this point is impeachment. The Emperor of the United States has now claimed the power to neuter the judicial system.
Congress took an oath to defend the Constitution. Impeachment of this madman is the only recourse to restore the authority of the Constitution.
Not ONE Dime for Democrats until they stand up Bush regime.
Not ONE minute working for Democrats until they stand up to the Bush regime.
Where's the old "Give 'em Hell Harry?" spirit? It seems every piece of legislation Democrats propose, Republicans threaten fillibuster, and
Democrats back down.
I urge Senate Democrats to go back to wherever it is that you dropped the Webb-Hagel Readiness Amendment after it fell four votes short of the 60 needed to make it filibuster proof. I suggest you pick it up and dust it off, maybe give it a few minor cosmetic changes so it can technically be called "revised", and then resubmit it to the Senate for renewed consideration. And I suggest you then call the Republican bluff to filibuster against the Webb-Hagel Readiness Amendment if a vote for cloture can not be obtained through less strenuous means.
I guarantee this is one fight that the Republican Party does not want to wage in the spotlight of a real filibuster. They do not want to explain,
at filibuster length, how refusing to guarantee our brave and patriotic active duty troops as much time at home following deployment to a war zone
as they actually spent in that war zone, before they get shipped back into a war zone again is actually "supporting our troops". The time has come
for Republicans to put up. Or shut up.
Senator Reid, hold your ground if Mitch McDonnell comes marching toward you with his fillibuster threat. This time accept what he has to offer,
and call the Senate into 24 hour session, for the purpose of providing relief and a small measure of fairness to America's brave men and women,
who daily risk their lives for our freedom and security.
Republicans have much more to fear from staging that filibuster than Democrats do. It would
ratchet up the heat on all of their chicken hawk hypocrisy, and show America who really supports our troops, if you called that Republican bluff. It's their ultimate nightmare.
Harry, give 'em Hell!
