Senator Reid as a life long Democrat I want you and the Democratic leadership to hear what I think of our party's failure to be proactive when this bill was first introduced and to mount a filibuster once this immoral, un-American bill came up for cloture. I have often disagreed with the party's strategies and positions but this is the first time that I feel deeply and totally ashamed of it. I know the Republicans are willing to dismantle the very foundation of our Constitutional democracy for political and financial gains. I was under the opinion that the Democratic Party would not sell out our principles so cheaply. How in all that is holy can you rationalize your decisions.

When this election season began the Democratic Party had probably the most motivated group of people ever in our history willing to contribute and work tirelessly to help the party gain a majority in both houses of Congress. Our chances of achieving this goal was extremely realistic and improving every day. Now because of the Democratic leadership's fear of losing and it's unwillingness to fight for REAL American values contained in our Constitution, I see motivation turning into despair and our chances of winning disappearing through the actions of leadership. I truly hope that you can garner enough Republican votes to offset those you have lost by this decision.
