Harry Reid on Iran Intelligence Estimate

"President Bush's heated rhetoric on Iran - including comments about a potential World War III - is even more outrageous now that we know the intelligence community had informed him that it believes Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons program four years ago,"

"This is the latest in a long line of inaccurate and misleading comments that got us into the Iraq war to begin with. They further diminish the credibility of a president with a dangerous record of overstating threats," he said.

Page One for any journalist worth their salt; 'Follow the money'

It is clear that the missile defense system is in deep trouble. And now if there is one more reason that we don't need it (no threat from Iran), who loses out? The giant corporations that have been taking billions and billions developing this half baked system.

And if we don't go to war with Iran, who loses out? Again, the giant corporations that supply the weapons. And who does Bush depend upon to keep him funded and in power? The giant armaments corporations. Naturally Bush will not accept the new intelligence. Without war these corporations would be bankrupt. War is a necessary part of the Bush economy.

Ironically, we will never be safer by attacking Iran or by having a missile defense system. We will only be starting a new arms race. And Nuclear Winter will only become closer as a reality.

Yes, by all means, follow the money...all the way to the Congressional leadership. Where are all the gains that showed so much promise? All we've heard now is how difficult it is to overcome the "60 votes" they need to get things through Congress. So why have the Repugnantlans found it so easy to further THEIR agenda? Why, if they find it so easy to continue to frustrate the Democratic plan, couldn't the Dems have plied the same procedures before they became the so-called majority? They're still giving money to the Chimp-in-Chief and allowing him to deny children the proper health care, spy on Americans and give the telcoms immunity for conscious acts of betrayal of citizens. More like impunity. Sixty votes indeed! All it takes is a concerted and truthful effort to put Bush/Cheney criminals in the dock and prosecute war profiteers to the fullest. Stop posing and save your hypocritical posturing for someone who doesn't care. Give 'em Hell Harry? Obviously you mean the American public, NOT the opposition(?) party. COWARDS!

Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.
