The policies of the Federal Reserve and both political parties has debased the value of the dollar, created $900+ gold, over $90 per barrel oil and now they come riding to the 'rescue' by borrowing more and inviting people to continue to spend, spend, spend.

Harry, tell your colleague Nancy that those in America who aspired to the 'middle class' did so through hard work and thrift. Not reckless borrowing and spending as has the federal government.

But given the example you in the leadership roles provide for Americans by reckless borrowing and spending, I guess it is no wonder so many Americans behave is such a self destructive manner.

Shame on all of you two branches of government.
It seems a shame that we are now in a situation where a vote to deny cloture will be necessary to prevent the Republicans from winning the battle to grant immunity to the telecom companies who aided in spying on American citizens in contravention of the existing FISA law passed in the aftermath of the Nixon presidency. This situation could have been avoided if the alternate, non immunity granting version of the bill had been allowed to reach the senate floor instead of the J. Rockefeller/intelligence committee version.

Was this a mistake? Or is it just another way to allow the immunity granting version of the bill to pass without taking responsibility for the outcome?
When republicans were in control of the senate, the complaint from our leaders in the senate was that republicans would not allow them to do the people's work. Now that democratic leadership is in control the story has not changed, complaining about republicans would not let them do anything, republicans were playing politics rather than national security. I wonder why they did not employ the same tactics (when we were in the minority) republicans are now using against us? Democratic leadership was so afraid of republicans removing the ability of them to filibuster if the republicans could not get their ways and of course, Ben Nelson was there, the gang of 16? Like senators Rockefeller, Claire McCaskill, Mary Landrieu and Ben Nelson who voted to give immunity to the telecommunication companies despite that opinion polls are dead-set against such move. We don't have any hope! Claire in particular that is supporting Obama for change, I guess we can only fight each other and marginalize fellow democrats. I am not surprised about Ben Nelson of Nebraska, he was never truly belong to us but disappointed about Jay and Mary Landrieu. If we cannot even fight this good fight that polls including the ones done by the senate democrats, the public is with us, how are we going to fight republicans who play edge-hardball politics when Obama or Clinton or even Edwards is our nominee.

I have never seen men and women that disregard opinion polls and still do things the way the republicans want them to do even when they are supposedly in charge than the current leadership in both houses. No backbone, no spine and it is a shame because our country right now needs people who are truly ready to stand with the people and we will not give in every second. How can a lame-duck president have so much control over the opposition party that is in control of both houses? We truly need progressive democrats, the ones that would play the hardball back to the max with the republicans. This is not a touchy-feeling politics, it is the republican brand, edgy hard-core. If you are not ready to fight back then maybe you allow those who are willing to fight for our principles that are truly good for the country come in and take the good fight back to the GOP.
It was a shocking piece of collusion for the democrats to agree to an economic stimulus that did not extend food stamps or unemployment insurance.

In the evolution of animal life what made an extraordinary difference in evolutionary success was the combined development of a brain and a backbone, in fish. This combination made fish proliferate. Would that the democrats could also put this combination together.

My parents and I are life long democrats going back to Adlai Stevenson (well my parents do!) when they were barely old enough to vote. As such, we strongly condem former President Clinton's bad cop role in his wife's campaign. If Hilary Clinton feels she is qualified to be President then let the American public decide it on her alone and not be propped up by the former president and by the way, Michelle Obama and Elizabeth Edwards are spouses, NOT former presidents. It is time to retire the Clinton team. It isn't that much of a dream. Former President Clinton inserting himself so prominently into the campaign could well cost us the election.

What needs to be done to start the process of repealing the NV state law that mandates the caucus process for nominating candidates, especially in presidential races?

A caucus disenfranchises thousands, maybe tens of thousands of voters, who are unable to show up at a caucus site at one specific time on one specific day. In this 24/7 city and state, is the caucus system a method to deliberately prevent the working class from voicing their choice? I would guess that the greatest % of residents of the state work in jobs such as hotel/casinos, hospitals, police, fire, post office, restaurants, etc. that forces them to work on a Saturday. And Saturday is the busiest day of the week for the largest segment of our economy - the hotel/casino industry.

Has a group been formed to work on this issue?
