Bush and company are not worried that the destroyed CIA tapes revealed torture ... that is a given. What they fear is what was said during the interrogation ... whether it implements people that been covered up or that torture is totally useless ... who has confirmed the stories that they tell about all the plots that were prevented???
Today I read in the New York Times, that Whitehouse lawyers had discussed destroying the CIA tapes of waterboarding. It has been obvious to me, that this administration has lied to the public from day one. They have their own agenda, whatever it is -- other than making Bush, King.
Please Senator Reid, don't back down one bit. Or as the site says, "Give em Hell Harry". Right now, I would probably vote for you for President without a another thought on the matter.

I have a hard time understanding who you/Dems fear? Does "cut and run" scare you when last poll I saw represents about 30% of the potential people who would subscribe that label to you ... Who supports spying on Americans? Holding corporate America responsible for doing it, God forbid, they might cut you guys off? This administration spits in your face and you cower like a kicked dog ... they cover up their illegal activities and no one challenges them ... where are our leaders??? You stand by watching as big oil reaps corporate welfare via war and tax cuts ... out here in middle America we see it and at the very least expect you to go down kicking and screaming or like the beat dog turn and bite their ass ... I will not give another penny to the Dem's until they grow a backbone ... be scared, be very scared, the Bush legacy, I am shaking in Tennessee.
Ten years from now, how will all those people currently riding around with "W the President" on their car windows be able to justify what President Bush has done to distroy the Executive Branch of our government? We got a bush when we needed a TREE.
Maybe we should become a democracy rather than a republic. Guess that though is beyond most of those W-supporters!

I've listened as Presidential Debates have asked the questions: What would you about the War in Iraq? What would you do about Health Care? etc. I strongly believe that these are the wrong questions. These questions presuppose that the candidates have an understanding and basic knowledge of our federal government. But, if this premise is not correct, I believe we need to find out sooner rather than after election.
I believe that Presidential Candidates should first be asked questions such as:
1. Have you ever read the U. S. Constitution? And, if so, what are 3 points that you recall?
2. Based on the U. S. Constitution, what are the three branches of the government?
What are their functions?
Does each branch have limited powers?
Describe the concept of "checks and balances".
Do you believe that there should be oversight within in the Executive Branch? Describe the purpose of 'oversight' within the executive branch.
3. Have you read the Bill of Rights? And, if so, what importance do you place on each right?
4. Do you agree with the separation of Church and State?
5. What is the Geneva Convention about? Is it important to comply with international law?
6. Under what authority may the U. S. go to war?
7. Should the U. S. Government be subject to the 'rule of law"?
I would love to hear this type of interview with Presidential Candidates and it might help educated those voters who have not yet had the opportunity to consider these questions.
But, if this type of open debate is not 'news worthy', then maybe we should require presidential candidates to take a written test regarding their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the U. S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and related issues. If they pass, then move on to the questions about what would they do to end the war…..etc.

Dear Sir, you promised much before your election, but have not delivered, your records is pathetic, except for a few minor things, you have not come through. I don't think you have the experience to accomplish anything this term, please step aside and let someone in who can really help this Country.
It is long over due for Congress to stop rubber stamping Bush.
Senator Dodd is threatening a filibuster of one of Bush's Christmas wishlist--to give retroactive immunity to wiretapping corporations. NO!!
If a homeless person steals something from a grocery store, he goes to jail. Congress does not give that person retroactive immunity for eating! Why should Congress give retroactive immunity to corporations who wanted to support the Bush Administration???

We've all heard their heated rhetoric on Iran.
George Bush, Dick Cheney, other administration officials, and right wing pundits using phrases such as "imminent threat" and talking about the potential for World War III. Now we know these are just the latest in a long line of inaccurate and misleading comments -- the same type of misinformation that got us into the Iraq war.
All 16 of our nation's intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons program four years ago. This finding, contained in the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) that was released yesterday, further diminished the credibility of the President, who has a dangerous record of overstating threats.
Of course, instead of announcing a new diplomatic offensive, George Bush's response was to state, "the NIE doesn't do anything to change my opinion about the danger Iran poses to the world." Well, maybe his opinion hasn't changed, but the facts have. The President is the only person that I know who can receive a report like the NIE and believe that it's a warning signal.
I have no doubt that those cheerleading for a war with Iran will continue to do so. That's why I need your help to get the word out in your community about this development. If we can send 10,000 letters to the editor by Monday, I know it will make a real difference.
Help make sure that George Bush and his allies don't spread misinformation leading to war with Iran.

Instead of stubbornly insisting the NIE did not "change his opinion", George Bush should announce a new diplomatic surge.
George Bush used this playbook in the build-up to the war in Iraq -- and now he is trying to lay the same foundation for us to go to war in Iran. For the last seven years, we've seen this kind of misinformation coming from the White House. Our nation deserves better.

Harry Reid on Iran Intelligence Estimate
"President Bush's heated rhetoric on Iran - including comments about a potential World War III - is even more outrageous now that we know the intelligence community had informed him that it believes Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons program four years ago,"
"This is the latest in a long line of inaccurate and misleading comments that got us into the Iraq war to begin with. They further diminish the credibility of a president with a dangerous record of overstating threats," he said.
14 "enduring bases" in Iraq, essentially forever, and there's no need for Congress to approve this? Please, Senator Reid, and citizens, read Bruce Ackerman's column here:
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ackerman29nov29,0,3241305.story?coll=la-opinion-rightrail
The Senate needs to insist that no such "forever" agreement be established without Congressional authorization. Or do we like living in a dictatorship?
