Help Democrats Lower Gas Prices Now
Apr 24, 01:14 PM
Today, Democrats proposed an amendment to provide immediate relief to consumers. The amendment introduced by Senator Menendez will provide more than $6 billion in relief directly to the American people by eliminating the federal tax for both gas and diesel for 60 days. During the period of this gas tax holiday, the cost of gas will be reduced by $0.184 per gallon and the cost of diesel by $0.244 per gallon. We will pay for this tax cut by eliminating tax breaks and giveaways to big oil.

George Bush: Help Americans, not just big oil
Apr 24, 10:52 AM
Today, Dick Durbin and I sent a letter to President Bush, urging him to help ease the pain Americans are experiencing at the gas station by putting aside the energy policies he allowed oil companies to write and joining Democrats in their continuing efforts to stop price gouging, rein in gratuitous subsidies to Big Oil, and make America energy independent.

Exceeding the "Do Nothing Congress"
Apr 23, 02:28 PM
I spent the recess traveling Nevada.
I visited cities and towns with names like Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Searchlight, Pahrump, Reno, Fernley, Fallon, Yerington, and Hawthorne.
These places are all very different, but not once in any of these cities did someone talk to me about eliminating the estate tax, or flag burning, or gay marriage. Instead, throughout Nevada, I was constantly asked about skyrocketing gas prices, the intractable war in Iraq, taxes, immigration, education, health care, and homeland security.

President Bush: Take action to protect consumers against price gouging
Apr 17, 03:00 PM
With Americans across the country struggling with an unexplained spike in gas prices and with experts predicting a 25% increase in prices over last summer, 15 Senate Democrats today sent aletter to President Bush, urging him to take action to support federal anti-price gouging legislation.

Outrageous Lies
Apr 16, 04:18 PM
Immigration is one of our most pressing national security issues and the fact is George Bush and his rubberstamping Republican allies in Congress have failed to deal with it responsibly. Instead, they turn reality upside down and today will start running ads against me on Spanish language radio stations in Nevada claiming “Reid’s Democrat allies voted to treat millions of hardworking immigrants as felons.”

Geroge Bush must disclose his role in the leak of intelligence
Apr 11, 11:07 AM
In fact, the White House strategy only raises further questions. For example, in addition to Mr. Libby, have you directed anyone else in your Administration to disclose classified information to reporters? Was any other highly classified data, beyond that contained in the National Intelligence Estimate, selectively leaked to reporters or other persons outside of your Administration, and if so, why? And, why did you tell the American people on October 13, 2003, that you “don’t know of anybody in [your] administration who leaked classified information”?

George Bush can't hide his own immigration failure
Apr 7, 07:56 PM
In a week when President Bush was unable to convince House Republicans to pass his budget, was unable to convince Senate Republicans to pass immigration reform, and was caught misleading the American people about national security matters yet again, it’s no surprise that he would take a page from the Karl Rove playbook and blame Democrats to distract from his own troubles.

Not a spokesman. Not a statement. George Bush must explain leak to the American people
Apr 6, 01:40 PM
This is a serious allegation with national security consequences. It directly contradicts previous statements made by President Bush, it continues a pattern of misleading by this Bush White House, and it raises somber and troubling questions about the Bush administration’s candor with the Congress and the public.
